Arlington’s Department of Public Works is offering to remove branches knocked down by the strong storms that ripped through the east side of town Sunday and uprooted 21 trees.

“It was amazing, but there were no injuries,” said Arlington Police Captain Robert Bongiorno.

But fallen trees did damage two homes in East Arlington between 4 and 6 p.m. Sunday and Bongiorno said about 8 to 10 trees toppled onto cars. One of the homes damaged by the trees is on Freeman Street, which was also hit with an extended power outage as a result of the storm, Bongiorno said.

Arlington DPW crews worked into the night Sunday to clear streets and sidewalks. The DPW is offering to remove any branches knocked down by the storm in East Arlington as long as the branches are hauled to the curbside by June 21.

There is no need to call the town for collection, but for other questions call DPW dispatch at 781-316-3301.
