Arlington Police will conduct a seat belt enforcement blitz between May 23 and June 5 as one of more than 180 police departments statewide participating in a Click It or Ticket campaign.
The department will step up law enforcement activities during the campaign and anyone pulled over for a traffic violation will also be ticketed if they aren’t wearing a seat belt.
The campaign is funded by a federal grant provided through the state Executive Office of Public Safety and Security’s Highway Safety Division.
“Too many people still have the reckless attitude that a crash will never happen to them,” said Police Chief Frederick Ryan in a press release. “Unfortunately, these tragedies can and do happen every day, and the best way to protect yourself is by wearing a seat belt.”
