Marshals arrest Arlington man for Cambridge bank robbery
Authorities arrested an Arlington man yesterday in New Hampshire for allegedly robbing a bank in Cambridge last month.
John Curtin, 55, was arrested in Portsmouth by members of the Boston Marshals Fugitive Task Force, the New Hampshire Marshals Task Force, the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force and Portsmouth Police.
Cambridge Police, which assisted in the investigation and apprehension, said Curtin was wanted in connection to a robbery of a bank on Huron Avenue on Dec. 17.
Police said Curtin entered the bank and had a metal object, possibly a knife, and passed a note to a teller demanding money before escaping with about $900.
Cambridge Police spokesman Dan Riviello said the department does not release the names of businesses that are a victim of a crime.
Cambridge Police investigated the robbery and obtained a warrant for Curtin’s arrest on a charge of armed robbery. He was apprehended without incident Wednesday, waived extradition and has been transported from New Hampshire to Cambridge Police to be booked.
