Like a child opening a present on Christmas, Medford photographer George McLean got a surprise when he looked at the film from a recent trip to Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge. Here he tells the story:

"I never bother the nest, I watch as the mother leaves to hunt. I hold the camera at arm's length over the nest, on auto focus. I snap a photo and leave swiftly.

"When I looked at what I had photographed, I was ecstatic. An egg and two baby robins [one with its mouth gaping open] who didn't even have their eyes open yet."
