David Rogers won the three-way Democratic primary for a House seat that represents Belmont and parts of Arlington and Cambridge Thursday night, setting up a general election contest against Tommasina Anne Olson.

Rogers received 2,291 votes, or 43 percent of the vote, beating Margaret Hegarty and Robert Paul Reardon Jr., according to Rogers’s and Hegarty’s campaigns. Hegarty has conceded.

The 24th Middlesex District represents Belmont and neighborhoods in Arlington and North Cambridge. The seat was vacated when Democrat William Brownsberger stepped down after being elected to the state Senate in a special election in December.
