Arlington Public Schools announced Monday that Matthew Janger has been appointed as Arlington High School’s next principal.
Janger has been serving as the principal of Mount Desert Island High School in Bar Harbor, Maine since 2009, and will assume his new role in Arlington on July 1, according to Arlington Superintendent of Schools Kathleen Bodie’s office.
In a press release Monday, Bodie said the district is pleased to welcome Janger, who brings strong administrative and teaching experience and a deep understanding of educational practices in schools.
“He has a thoughtful, approachable leadership style and a good sense of humor,” Bodie said.
Janger has also served as the principal of Wines Elementary School in Ann Arbor, Michigan and has taught high school English. He has a doctorate degree from the University of Michigan in philosophy in education foundations and policy.
He will replace Mary Villano, who has been serving as Arlington High School’s interim principal since Charles Skidmore retired from the job in 2011.
