Whole Foods Market announced Monday that it will open its new Arlington store on Wednesday, Sept. 18, in the place of the former Johnnie’s Foodmaster.

The Texas-based grocery store chain will hold a “bread-breaking” ceremony that morning at the store at 808 Massachusetts Ave. beginning at 9:45 a.m.. The store will be Whole Foods Market’s 28th location in Massachusetts and will have 115 full and part-time employees in a space of more than 33,000 square feet, according to the company.

Johnnie’s Foodmaster closed at the location in the fall of 2012 after Whole Foods bought the store, along with Johnnie’s locations in Brookline, Charlestown, Melrose, South Weymouth and Beacon Street in Somerville.

The new Arlington supermarket will have groceries, produce, seafood and meats along with prepared foods including a pizza station, noodle and dumpling bar.

The store will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.

The public is invited to the opening ceremony at 9:45 a.m. on Sept. 18 and the store will officially open for business at 10 a.m. that morning.
