Two fire department officials from two stations on opposite ends of the Back Bay were among seven members of the department promoted during a ceremony at fire headquarters Wednesday.

Before family and friends at Memorial Hall, Lt. James Greene of Ladder 15 on Boylston Street was promoted to captain and John DuBeau of Tower Ladder 17 on Columbus Avenue joined the officer ranks in his move from firefighter up to lieutenant.

Also promoted to captain were Lieutenants Sean Linnell of Engine 22 in the South End and Mark O’Brien of Ladder 23 in Dorchester, while Firefighters Robert Smith of Engine 14 in Roxbury, Paul Hobin of Ladder 18 in South Boston, and Erik Then of Ladder 2 in East Boston were promoted to lieutenants.

“The Department wishes them well on their new assignments,” said a Boston Fire Department press release announcing the promotions made by Fire Commissioner Roderick J. Fraser, Jr. and Chief of Department Ronald Keating.
