Chocolate lovers will soon have a new haven where they can indulge as local chocolatier L.A. Burdick prepares to open its newest shop in the Back Bay.

The Walpole, N.H.-based company known for its rich hot chocolate is opening its fourth shop and cafe at 220 Clarendon St., between Newbury and Bolyston streets, and plans to start doling out its chocolate mice and other treats as early as February.

The manager for the shop’s Cambridge location said Friday L.A. Burdick hopes to open its doors in the Back Bay on the first weekend of February. The location’s cafe is not expected to be ready then, but the chocolate shop will be in business from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The new shop will be just two blocks from Max Brenner, the chocolate-centric restaurant and bar that opened on Bolyston Street in March last year.

In addition to its Harvard Square location, L.A. Burdick has a shop and cafe New York City, and a shop and restaurant in Walpole, N.H.
