Chicken & Rice Guys food truck set to open in spring
At least one new food truck will be serving up its dishes on Boston’s streets this spring.
Chicken & Rice Guys, a food truck dedicated to serving Halal-style chicken and rice, is set to begin operating this spring on the weekends at the food truck spots adjacent to Boston Public Library and Boston University's Morse Auditorium.
The truck’s owners have been updating its Facebook and Twitter this week with photos one of its dishes and of newly painted trucks. On Feb. 2 the truck promised, “almost here... almost.”
The move was first reported by Boston Restaurant Talk.
Chicken & Rice Guys will serve chicken and rice with spicy red or white sauce with lettuce and pita bread. The dishes can also be made with lamb, a combination of the two meats, or vegetables, according to the truck’s Facebook page.
The dishes are inspired by food carts and trucks serving similar dishes in New York City, such as the well-known Halal Guys on 53rd and 6th.
“After a night out in New York City, we were introduced to the wonder of eating Chicken and Rice outside with our friends. We became instant addicts!” the truck’s Facebook states. “With its popularity and lines down and around the block in New York City, it was obvious that Boston was missing out on something incredible.”
The city’s Mobile Food Truck program has marked April 1 as the start of the food truck season.
