After avoiding a shutdown in December and then in January, The Otherside Cafe has again announced it is will close.
“Yes, for real this time,” the Newbury Street restaurant wrote in a Twitter post Tuesday that showed a photograph of its building wall with the freshly painted message “We’re closing in 26 days” and a man waving.
The post included the hash tags “#endofanera” and “#thecafethatcriedwolf.”
The vegetarian-friendly restaurant and beer bar originally expected to close December 23 as the popular Midwest furniture chain Room & Board looked to open its first Massachusetts store in its prominent corner building.
That closing was pushed back to January and then in December the restaurant announced it would be staying put because its building’s deal with the prospective tenant fell through, the restaurant said.
Since then, the Island Hopper restaurant that shared some of the 40,000 square feet of retail space with the Otherside Cafe has closed.
