The Beacon Hill Civic Association is set to celebrate its 90th anniversary when it holds its annual meeting Monday.

The annual meeting includes votes on a proposed by-law amendment,
and the election of officers and board members, but also kicks off a year of celebrations for the neighborhood association.

The Beacon Award, now in its 16th year, will be presented to an individual or group for their ongoing contributions to the community and a local historian is set to give a talk about Beacon Hill.

Robert Allison, chairman of the history department at Suffolk University, and a professor at Suffolk and the Harvard University Extension School, will tell stories of the neighborhood’s past in a talk titled “90 Years of Civic Engagement on Beacon Hill."

Allison, a fellow with the Massachusetts Historical Society, and vice president of the Colonial Society of Massachusetts, has also written the books: The Boston Tea Party, The Boston Massacre, and A Short History of Boston.

The association’s annual meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, May 21 at the Union Club. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
