Early returns have Kearns Goodwin ahead in Third Middlesex senate race

Unofficial results from three of the nine communities in the Third Middlesex District for state senate have Democrat Joe Kearns Goodwin and Republican Greg Howes in the lead.

Unofficial results have been reported by Waltham, Sudbury and Concord, and Kearns Goodwin, of Concord, leads with 3,103 votes to Michael Barrett’s 2,055. Democrat Mara Dolan is in third with 1,325 votes, Democrat Joe Mullin had 471 votes, and Alex Buck is last in the race for the Democratic nomination with 208 votes.

On the Republican side, early returns have Concord Republican Gregory Howes with 1,268 votes over Sandi Martinez’s 1,067 votes.
