A production still from "The North Star," a short animated film produced by Boston's FableVision, which will screen on Saturday at the Belmont World Film Family Film Festival.

On Nov. 20, Belmont World Film will open its 8th annual Family Film Festival, a collection of family-appropriate films hailing from locations as exotic as Tokyo and nearby as Watertown.

The festival will continue on Nov. 21. Showtimes for films are Saturday, Nov. 20 at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., and on Sunday Nov. 21 at 3:00 p.m. All movies will be shown at the Studio Cinema on Trapelo Road. Tickets are $3 for each of the screenings on Saturday and $5 for Sunday.

The screenings on Saturday include selections appropriate for younger children, including animated versions of classic children's books produced by studios in the Boston area. At 2:30, the festival will screen "What A Wonderful World," a collection of international animated short films.

Sunday's screening, intended for children 9 years and older, is "Summer Wars," a futuristic sci-fi animated tale from Japan.

Belmont World Film’s Family Film Festival is supported in kind by Scholastic Books/Weston Woods Studios and the Studio Cinema in Belmont.
