Curious about how the town of Belmont will be handling its resident coyotes this year? The Board of Health will hear a presentation by Belmont Animal Control Officer John Maguranis on a new coyote management plan on Monday night.

The plan includes a proposed hazing team, according to Board of Health Chair David Alper. The hazing team, according to Maguranis, would be a volunteer team of residents who would respond to calls about coyotes that lose their fear of humans. The team would use scare tactics to make the coyotes afraid of humans.

Alper said that there will be no formal vote at tonight's meeting. The Board of Health, he said, will likely offer suggestions for any improvements to Maguranis's plan and discuss the next steps for implementation.

The meeting will be held from 5:20 to 7:30 p.m. in the Town Hall auditorium. The coyote management plan is scheduled to come up for discussion at 5:45.
