Veterans Day events set for Beverly, Danvers, Peabody and Salem

Veterans Day celebrations will take place across the North Shore tomorrow, including in Beverly, Danvers, Peabody and Salem.  

-In Beverly, the Veterans of Beverly will hold its annual service at the Veterans Memorial at Odell Park at 10:45 a.m. For information on these programs please contact Jerry Guilebbe at jguilebbe@beverlyma.gov.

Also, the North Beverly Elementary School performed songs and poems this morning.

-In Danvers, the Danvers Senior Center (25 Stone St.) will hold an event at 11 a.m.  This weekend, Danvers Youth Soccer will hold its sixth annual Saluting Soldiers Festival to benefit Danvers-based Operation Troop Support.

-In Peabody, Mayor Michael Bonfanti will speak at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School (485 Lowell St.) at 9 a.m.

Coffee and donuts will be served at 9 a.m. at the Peabody VFW. Participants will then march to Peabody Square at 10:45 a.m. Lt. Commander Eric Polonsky will speak at 11 a.m. before the parade returns to the VFW at 11:45 p.m.

Also, St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church (5 Paleologos St.) will hold Mass at 8:30 p.m. followed by a 9:30 a.m. dedication and breakfast.

-In Salem, the annual Veterans Day ceremony at the Salem High School auditorium (77 Willson St.) will start at 11 a.m. The Salem Veterans Council will honor Vietnam War veterans, World War II and Korean War veterans with a Wartime Service Medal.

Veterans who believe they are eligible for the award should send a copy of their records showing honorable, qualifying military wartime service. Veterans must also have been a city resident at the time of enlistment. Regrettably, awards cannot be made posthumously at this time.

Also, Bill Hanney and the North Shore Music Theatre will offer half priced tickets to their performance of “legally Blonde" at 8 p.m. A reception will take place for all veterans and their family at 6 p.m.  The discount tickets for veterans are open to all veterans and those who have a Military ID.  For tickets and information they can go to www.nsmt.org
