The Beverly Police Department said it responded to Lovett Street for a report of an armed robbery on Wednesday at about midnight. Officers spoke to three victims, they reported, who said the incident occurred at Dane Street Beach.

The victims told police they were sitting against the sea wall at about 11:35 p.m. when they were approached by two unknown males. The men allegedly asked the victims if they had any marijuana, and left when told they did not.

The same males reportedly approached the victims a short time later and asked for some change. At this point, both suspects pulled out guns and pointed them at the victims. The victims were ordered to empty their pockets, as one suspect put his gun against one victim's head, according to the report.

After the victims complied, the suspects told them not to move or turn around and then fled in an unknown direction, the report said. The victims told police they heard a vehicle leaving the area, but they did not see the vehicle.

The suspects got away with approximately $40 in cash, three cellphones, and other various items. The victims described them as one black male and one Hispanic male, both in their early 20s, about 5 foot 10 inches, about 160 pounds, wearing dark clothes and hooded sweatshirts. One was also wearing a baseball cap.

Beverly Police are asking anyone who may have information about this incident to call  978-922-1212, or those wishing to remain anonymous can submit a tip through the Beverly Police website.
