"DESTINY", a musical comedy for children and adults of all ages, opens this Thursday, August 2nd at the Theatre of Light in Beverly. The cast of 6 young actresses stars Marbleheaders Claire Coen, Elizabeth Tauro, and Tabitha Vania with Anna Coughlin from Swampscott, Katie Moloney of Salem, and Mariella Robinson from Beverly.
This musical comedy is based on the theme of world peace as seen through the eyes of children. As these young people confront current world problems such as war, pollution, the economy, anti-semitism, racism, terrorism, and bullying, they discover a basic truth of how to make the world a better place for all humanity but not before they experience some of these world issues among themselves.
The 1985 world premiere of “DESTINY” was presented in Marblehead and produced by The Children's Academy of Performing Arts. The play was so well received that the acting troupe was invited to perform segments of the musical at the United Nations in New York City for a special event entitled, "Youth Can Move the World". At that time, "DESTINY" was also featured on Channel 5's "Good Day Show".
Performances of "DESTINY" will be presented on Thursday, August 2nd and Sunday, August 5th at Temple B’Nai Abraham, 200 East Lothrop Street in Beverly. Curtain times are 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM on both dates. The suggested ticket donation is $10 for the general public and $5 for children ages 5 and under.
