Beverly-based mentoring program for girls and young women to hold baseball fundraiser
La Chic Mentoring Plus - a Beverly nonprofit aimed at helping to change the lives of adolescent girls and young women - will hold a fundraiser in partnership with the North Shore Navigators baseball team at Fraser Field in Lynn on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
The year-round, nonprofit, after-school mentoring program serving high-risk, low-income girls and young women aged 8 to 21 and their families, will hold a silent auction and raffles prior to the Navigators' last home game of the season, against the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs.
Donors and silent auction/raffle item contributors receive free admission to the event and the game, and ticket holders for the game receive free admission to the fundraiser.
All proceeds will go to support La Chic's academic programs, individual and group mentoring sessions, cultural and recreational activities, and to provide tutors and mentors for the girls.
Former Red Sox outfielder Billy Conigliaro - a native of Revere who won a World Series Championship with the Oakland Athletics in 1973 - will be signing autographs. An official Jacoby Ellsbury autographed jersey, Dustin Pedroia autographed ball, and other sports memorabilia will be raffled.
Jim Corsi, a native of Newton who pitched in the Major Leagues for 11 years, including a stint with the Red Sox from 1997-99, will also be on hand.
The silent auction will feature a choice of Bruins or Celtics suite tickets (five sets of four seats) with dates to be announced.
