Another special guest, Ray Novack, will also be in attendance to serve as Grand Marshal of the 2012 parade. Novack retired this year after 35 years as the Beverly High School band director. According to the Beverly Holiday Parade Committee, proceeds from the event will go to help the band purchase new uniforms for the close to 300 participating students at the suggestion of Novack.

"Although he has retired his marching shoes, the band will continue to literally march in his footsteps," Holiday Parade Committee member Wendy Kelley said in a statement.

As always, everyone is invited to participate by entering a float or entertainment troupe into the procession. Trophies will be awarded to the best floats.

The parade will kick off at the Cummings Center on Elliot Street at 1:30 p.m., winding up Elliot, down Cabot Street, onto Broadway, and taking Rantoul Street back to the Cummings Center.

The parade committee also requests that anyone attending bring a canned food item to be donated to Beverly Bootstraps.

Anyone interested in supporting the parade with a donation or entering a float should contact Kelley at 978-423-9968 or email wendy.kelley@salemfive.com for more information. The committee will recognize individuals or organizations that donate $1,000 or more with a special banner carried in the parade with their name on it.
