As part of a new agreement, the Medical Group (TMG) will become the Beverly office of Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates starting in May.The multi-specialty practice will remain in its current location next to Beverly Hospital on Herrick Street.

The two groups have shared goals of add growth and scale of clinical development programs, according to Dr. William Boyd, site director of Harvard Vanguard’s two Peabody practices.

“It’s really a great opportunity for both The Medical Group and us to really build something together that is more organized and allows us more scale to develop some programs that we think will be a home run for patients services,” Boyd said. “Ultimately it will help deliver better care for patients of the North Shore.”

In 2012 Harvard Vanguard made a commitment to create a more robust relationship with Beverly Hospital, Boyd said, and teaming up with TMG, which is very integrated in that community, further enhances that relationship.

Although both practices will join forces to improve services and make substantial changes as time goes on, there won’t be much change from the patient standpoint.

President of TMG, Dr. Harriet Bering, said Harvard Vanguard takes almost all of the same insurance plans. An additional change will be a computer integration of both practices.

“The larger organization has a lot of resources in terms of training and we hope to take advantage of that,” Bering said. “We see ourselves having a lot of synergy with colleagues in Peabody and we’re looking for ways to provide comprehensive care within the office setting while keeping patients out of the office and keeping them healthy.”
