Police investigating two break-ins
Police are investigating two break-ins, one at a home on Washington Street and the other at Castle Self-Storage on Quincy Avenue.
A thief broke into the Washington Street home, near the Holbrook line, forced open a safe in a bedroom closet, and stole the contents -- including several pieces of jewelry, police said.
Police said the break happened on Aug. 18 while the residents were away, some time between 6 a.m. and 9:50 p.m.
The evening before, someone smashed the front glass door of Castle Self-Storage and tried to pry open two interior doors with a hammer, police said.
The activity set off the burglar alarm, and the man fled without taking anything before police arrived. A surveillance camera showed a white male in his 30s, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighing 160 pounds, with brown hair and facial hair, and wearing black pants, a green zip-up sweatshirt, and white T-shirt, police said.
