The Town of Braintree today gave Dave & Buster's final approval to build a $12 million, 170-game complex at the location of the former Circuit City building at the South Shore Plaza.
The state’s first Dave and Buster's has been in the works for months, and required approval from numerous town boards.
The go-ahead from Braintree Planning Board came in early October 2010, but plans have been mired in months of controversy.
One of the final sticking points for the licensing board was ensuring that facility follows through with the recently enacted Policies and Regulations Governing Amusement Games ordinance, passed by Town Council in December.
Included in the ordinance is the requirement that the facility be occupied by no more than 49 percent of gaming space, and that the owner pay a licensing fee of $100 per gaming device.
Dave & Buster's is currently working to build an establishment at the 90 Middlesex Turnpike in Burlington.
