Pajama thief strikes again

A pajama-wearing thief has struck again as police investigate a second armed robbery at Luke’s Convenience Store on Pond Street.

According to police, a man in his early 20s wearing a red mask, blue pajama bottoms with Boston Red Sox logos, and a blue Red Sox hooded sweatshirt came into the store at 10 p.m. on Saturday April 23, walked behind the counter, and demanded money.

The suspect pointed a knife at the attendant and handed him a plastic bag, police said.

The attendant complied and put some money from the register in a bag. The suspect then fled out of the store toward King Hill Road.

A similiar incident happened at the store on Monday April 4. A male wearing a mask entered the store at 8:30 p.m and robbed the clerk at knifepoint.

The man was also wearing a green hooded sweatshirt pulled tight over his head and blue pajama bottoms with Red Sox logos on them.

Police are investigating the incident and are continuing to look for suspects.

Shoplifting arrest leads to drug charges

A man from Providence, RI was allegedly caught with cocaine while police were investigating a theft from Macy’s at the South Shore Plaza on Friday April 22.

According to police, Samil C. Rivera, 31, was trying on a sports jacket at the store. He then attempted to hide $60 worth of merchandise in the coat and leave.

Loss prevention officers detained him after he left the store and walked him to the loss prevention office.

En route, Rivera allegedly attempted to swallow the price tags for the clothing. He then became combative and allegedly tried to swallow a substance they believed to be narcotics.

Fifteen grams of cocaine were later removed from his mouth, police said.

He was placed under arrest and charged with trafficking in cocaine and shoplifting.
