Woman to be charged after alleged drunk driving with children in car
Police are seeking charges against a 29-year old Hanson woman after struck a utility pole while driving under the influence of alcohol with her two children in the back seat.
According to police, the woman was driving on Pleasant View Avenue in Braintree on Thursday, Dec. 1 when she allegedly hit a utility pole.
Arriving officers observed the woman’s Hyundai up against the pole with heavy front-end damage. The woman’s airbag deployed and she had two young children, both under the age of four, in the back seat.
The officer could smell an odor of alcohol on her and made other observations of possible intoxication.
The woman and her children were transported to South Shore Hospital for evaluation. The woman will be charged with operating under the influence and operating to endanger. Police will apply for a criminal hearing in Quincy District Court.
Drug sting results in man's arrest with heroin
Police arrested a 25-year old Jamaica Plain resident on Monday morning after a month-long investigation into the sale of heroin in the Granite Street area of Braintree and Weymouth.
Detectives from both towns, armed with a search warrant for a Dodge Caravan, were conducting surveillance on the street when they saw the vehicles on Forbes Road.
They conducted a traffic stop on Grandview Road by the AMC Theatre, and as officers approached the suspect, he appeared to be swallowing what police believed to be narcotics.
A small quantity of heroin was located in a bag between the front seats.
Jose Cordero Ortiz, 25, of Jamaica Plain was arrested and charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute.
