Weymouth man arrested during disturbance at South Shore Plaza

A 29-year-old man from Weymouth was arrested on Thursday evening, Dec. 22, after allegedly creating a disturbance at the Champs store at the South Shore Plaza.

Officers spoke with the man, who appeared to be under the influence of some type of substance. A subsequent search uncovered a pill vial containing two Clonazapam pills.

The man initially gave a fake name, however officers soon uncovered his true identity.

The man had two outstanding arrest warrants for a drug offense and unarmed robbery.

The man fought with officers as they attempted to take him into custody, pushing one officer and spitting at several. He also threatened to kill one of the officers, police said. Officers had to use pepper spray to gain control.

Ashley K. Meguro, 29, of Weymouth was eventually arrested and charged with assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, threat to commit a crime, and possession of a Class C substance.


Three arrested in weekend shoplifting cases

Three individuals were arrested in three separate incidents on Thursday and Friday last week after they allegedly all stole from stores in the South Shore Plaza.

According to police, a 42-year-old woman from Mattapan was arrested Thursday after allegedly stealing two pairs of sunglasses – totaling $240 in value – from LensCrafters.

When she was located, officers questioned the woman about the theft. A witness reported seeing Torres toss some items under a car, which were later recovered by police.

Brenda Torres, 42, of Mattapan was arrested and charged with shoplifting.

Two additional ladies were arrested on Friday afternoon after allegedly stealing $500 worth of clothing from Macy’s.

Loss prevention reported that they saw the woman select numerous items of clothing and enter into a fitting room with the items and their handbags.

The women were detailed and brought into the loss prevention office where the stolen merchandise was recovered.

Leah E. Powe, 19, from Dorchester, and Stephanie Charlemagne, 17, of Milton, were charged with larceny over $250. Powe was additionally charged with receiving stolen property under $250 after $120 worth of Sears merchandise was additionally found in her possession.


Two arrested after alleged K-Mart shoplifting

Two women were arrested on Friday evening after allegedly stealing over $250 worth of merchandise from K-Mart on Grossman Drive.

Loss prevention reported the women selecting a handbag and luggage before concealing two toys and a bottle of perfume in them.

The women were detained upon exiting the store and brought to loss prevention, where the merchandise was recovered.

Kerri A. Mylett, 31, of Braintree, and Kristen E. Kelman, 21, of Holbrook, were arrested and charged with larceny over $250. Mylett was additionally charged with two outstanding warrants for theft and motor vehicle offenses.
