A Quincy man was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly making an illegal U-turn on Union Street at Ivory Street in Braintree.

When the officer pulled the suspect over, the suspect had a strong smell of alcohol on him and appeared intoxicated, police said.

The suspect performed several sobriety tests and was then arrested.

Jay Needel, 56, from Quincy was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, and making an illegal U-Turn.

He was additionally charged with drinking from an open container of alcohol while driving after officers reported finding an open bottle of beer in the vehicle.
