Braintree man arrested after making threats with 5-lb. dumbbells
A Braintree man was arrested at his home on Thursday morning after allegedly threatening another man with two, five-pound dumbbells.
According to police, the victim, a 27-year-old man from Quincy, told police that the Braintree man became enraged at him at a Washington Street gym and backed him into a corner.
The Braintree man then allegedly struck the victim with an open hand, picked up two, five-pound weights, and held them over his head while threatening to harm the man, police said.
The Quincy man told police he was able to get past the suspect, run out of the gym, and call police from a nearby gasoline station.
The Braintree man left the gym before police arrived, but was later located in his home, police said.
Timothy Dutcher, 44, of Braintree was arrested and charged with assault and battery, assault by means of a dangerous weapon, and threats to commit a crime.
