A single-car rollover crash on Route 3 in Braintree Monday night killed one person and seriously injured four others, State Police said.

State Police responded to the scene of the crash on the northbound side of Route 3 at 7:15 p.m.

There were five people in the 1996 Honda Accord; all were ejected from the vehicle and taken to area hospitals by ambulance, State Police said in a statement.

Timella Warren, 26, of Framingham was driving the car and suffered the worst injuries, police said. She was transported to Boston Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.

The four passengers included a 20-year-old Malden woman and three Boston men ages 17, 20, and 26, police said.

Two passengers were taken to Boston Medical Center and two were taken to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, police said.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the car was being driven erratically in the left lane when the driver veered into the center lane, police said. Evidence suggests that the driver then overcorrected by steering back to the left and struck the cement barrier. Police said the car rolled up onto the barrier for about 100 feet, fell off, and rolled over twice before coming to a final rest in the center lane.

State Police are investigating whether excessive speed contributed to the crash.
