More than 5,000 people participated in the 20th Annual Komen Massachusetts Race for the Cure® on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Joe Moakley Park in South Boston including Braintree residents, Olivia Ridge (left) and Emma Flanagan (right).

The event, presented by the Massachusetts Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, was the culmination of Komen MA’s activities during October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Race is a 5K fitness walk/run dedicated to raising dollars to support local breast health programs that cover education, prevention, screening, and treatment while also funding the most promising research on a national level.
