Braintree police are cautioning residents after several break-ins have occurred by robbers who entered the homes by pushing in a window air conditioner unit.

According to police, a Birch Street homeowner reported that her home was broken into sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1.

The air conditioner had been pushed in to gain access to the house, and investigators believe that the perpetrator left through that hole. Jewelry was taken in the break.

“Several homes have been entered after the air conditioner unit was pushed in over the past few weeks in Braintree and in surrounding communities,” said Deputy Chief Russell Jenkins, who said detectives are woking to track down whoever is responsible.
