The treats of Crumbs Bake Shop are making their way south as the shop prepares to open in the South Shore Plaza this spring.
The bakery shop, known mostly for their massive cupcakes, will go into the Center Court of the Plaza on the mall’s first floor, facing Macy’s.
The 1,650-square-foot bakery joins several other pastry shops in the South Shore Plaza, including Au Bon Pain, Nordstrom Café’, Phillips Candy House, Cheesecake Factory, and Godiva Chocolatier.
But the mall's director of marketing, Vicki Bartkiewicz, noted in an email that “Crumbs Bake Shop is the first specialty cupcake shop at South Shore Plaza.
The South Shore Plaza is the fourth Simon Mall to get a Crumbs store, joining shops in the Burlington Mall, Peabody’s North Shore Mall, and Pheasant Lane Mall in New Hampshire. The company also has stores at the Natick Mall, the Prudential Center, and on Federal Street in Boston.
The shop has been around since 2003, when it first opened its doors on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
Since then, the shop's reputation has grown, with over 50 cupcake flavors in rotation, and a new cupcake of the week every Monday.
