A woman banned from the South Shore Plaza after allegedly stealing items from the mall twice in one week was arrested again after allegedly stealing from several plaza stores.
According to police, a store security officer in Zumiez saw the suspect on Thursday evening and suspected that she was filling a shopping bag with merchandise, though the officer did not observe any theft.
The officer followed the suspect to Express and Pink, where she engaged in similar behavior before exiting the mall and going to her car, police said.
The suspect then allegedly reentered the mall with a now empty shopping bag and returned to Zumiez, where the officer said he saw her conceal five shirts in her bag.
The officer called police and when they approached the suspect at her car, they reported that she dumped the shopping bag on the ground and kicked it under her vehicle.
Police said they recovered the bag and found that it contained various articles of clothing. Additional clothing was found in the back seat of the car.
According to police, the suspect had $1,200 of clothing from Zumiez, Express, and Pink, many of which had been damaged when security sensor tags were improperly removed.
A search of the suspectís pocketbook also uncovered 46 bags of heroin.
Sarah N. Medeiros, 24, from Fall River was arrested and charged with two counts of receiving stolen property over $250, shoplifting, destruction of property, possession of heroin, and trespassing.
Medeiros had also been arrested twice in one week during October 2011 and had been banned from the Plaza, police said.
