Brookline-based Jewish Women’s Archive has launched an online effort to map significant places in Jewish women’s history in America.

The non-profit organization on Harvard St. has created “On the Map” an interactive web page at http://jwa.org/onthemap that allows users to mark a historic spot in Jewish women’s history on a Google Map, add a photograph and write a description of the landmark.

The Archive, a nationwide organization that seeks to uncover, chronicle, and transmit to the public the rich history of American Jewish women, is inviting everyone to share a landmark for the “On the Map” project.

With no other record or database of Jewish women’s history landmarks in America, the Archive is hoping “On the Map” will prevent women’s stories from going unheralded.
