Friendly's Express opens in Coolidge Corner Wednesday
Friendly’s Express Restaurant will open in Brookline Wednesday in the former location of Qdoba in Coolidge Corner.
The Brookline location at 289 Harvard Street will be the family restaurant chain’s second “fast-casual” restaurant with an average time of six to eight minutes between placing an order and the food being served, the company said in a press release Monday.
The Wilbraham-based company said the express restaurant will have a limited menu of Friendly’s favorites, such as a SuperMelt, Fribbles, burgers, salads and kids’ meals.
After patrons order food at the counter in the restaurant, their food will be served at their table. The first Friendly’s Express Restaurant opened in Mansfield last year.
Jim Sullivan, Friendly’s vice president of development and franchising, said the Brookline location was picked for is proximity to public transportation and heavy foot traffic.
“Coolidge Corner is a dynamic urban environment,” Sullivan said. “Friendly’s Express will provide area workers, local residents and visitors with a great breakfast sandwich and cup of coffee to take on the train, or a fresh salad that can be brought back to work, along with our signature ice cream treats to enjoy throughout the day. We look forward to serving this vibrant community.”
The restaurant will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week.
