The Dean Road Bridge is open.

The MBTA reopened the Dean Road Bridge over the D Line tracks today, about six weeks ahead of schedule.

The bridge and Dean Road has been closed since early May while MBTA contractor S&R Construction tore down the old bridge and built a new one over the D Line tracks at the Beaconsfield T stop. The work forced the T to shut down the D Line in Brookline for several weekends during recent months.

The MBTA had originally planned to reopen the bridge to vehicular traffic on Feb. 1, but T spokeswoman Lydia Rivera said the road reopened today.

The $2.2 million project was done to replace the badly deteriorated bridge, which was build in 1892 and modified in 1932.
