A Brookline High School graduate who died while serving as a New York City firefighter on Sept. 11 will be honored by the town next month on the 10th Anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

The town of Brookline will dedicate a bench at the Babcock Street fire station in honor of Manuel Manny Del Valle, a 1988 graduate of Brookline High School who died while responding to Tower One at the World Trade Center.

The ceremony at 9 a.m. on Sept. 11 will last about an hour to coincide with the 9:59 a.m. fall of the first tower 10 years ago.

Brookline’s Veterans department is also attempting to identify and coordinate with other Sept. 11 events scheduled in the community and is encouraging families of other victims with a Brookline connection to call Veterans Director Bill McGroarty at bmcgroarty@brooklinema.gov.
