Whatever the weather, Car-Free School Day will be observed Wednesday, with participating students walking, biking, rollerblading, skateboarding, or taking the T instead of getting a ride from their parents or driving a car.
The local event is being held in conjunction with International Walk to School Day, which in past years has involved more than 3 million children in 21 countries. Students who get to school without cars will get a green stamp on their hands.
The day promotes better air quality and better health, and is cosponsored by the school district, town health and recreation officials, and local environmental groups. For details, contact Lynne Karsten at 617-730-2336.
