MBTA Transit Police have arrested a Boston woman who allegedly swung a knife at a man while he was disembarking a Green Line trolley at the Brookline Hills station Tuesday night.

CLAYTON.JPGMadina Clayton, 52, of Boston, has been charged with assault by means of a deadly weapon and is expected to appear in Brookline District Court Wednesday.

Police responded to the station, near Brookline High School, around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a woman with a knife threatening passengers on board a trolley. Police said a male who had been on the trolley said he’d been sitting across from a woman, whom was later identified as Clayton, when she pulled out a small folding knife and began opening and closing it several times while staring at him. Feeling uncomfortable, the male stood up to change seats and Clayton also stood up, pointed the knife at him, and yelled at him using profanity.

Based on witness accounts, police said when another male also tried to change seats, Clayton followed him with her knife opened. She then allegedly swung the knife haphazardly at another male as he was disembarking the trolley, police said. No one was injured.

Police arrested Clayton and discovered a warrant for her arrest out of Boston on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. She was also cited for possession of marijuana.
