This week’s snowfall may have buried a brief Hollywood dream for Brookline’s Town Hall.

Brookline Town Administrator Melvin Kleckner told the Board of Selectmen Tuesday that the town was prepared to allow the makers of a motion picture about the 1970's era Abscam scandal to shoot at Town Hall Wednesday.

But Kleckner said just as the town was about to give the film shoot the go-ahead, the movie crew canceled because of the snowfall Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Kleckner didn’t name who requested to film at Town Hall, but in a letter to selectmen he said the production crew had wanted to film in front of town hall and in the lobby from 3 p.m. until dark.

“Silver Linings Playbook” director David O. Russell has begun shooting his ‘70s movie about the scandal in Boston, with a cast including Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Jennifer Lawrence and Christian Bale.

Kleckner said in his letter to selectmen that the scene at Town Hall would simulate a congressman leaving a 1970's style courthouse building.

"I don't think any of us were planning on snow," said Selectwoman Nancy Daly.
