Whole Foods may open in Brookline by Marathon Monday
Whole Foods may open in place of the old Johnnie’s Fresh Market in Brookline in time for the Boston Marathon next month, store representatives said.
The grocery store's anticipated opening date at 1026-1028 Beacon St. near the St. Mary’s T stop is April 15, said Mike Scott, an attorney representing Whole Foods.
Scott and Rick Bonin, a vice president of operations for the company appeared before the Brookline Board of Selectmen Tuesday night seeking a common victualler license and permission for outside seating at the grocery store. Selectmen approved both requests.
The market plans to have eight tables, along with 26 seats and 9 stools outside along Beacon Street.
The Texas-based Whole Foods announced last year that it would be taking over the Johnnie’s Fresh Market space and five other Johnnie’s Foodmaster locations by the fall of this year.
