Brookline has declared a snow emergency effective at 8 p.m. Tuesday and running through noon Wednesday.

No parking on the street will be allowed in the town during the emergency, according to the town.

A winter storm predicted to drop six to 10 inches of snow is expected to hit the area and with temperatures falling into single digits at times during the next few days Brookline’s Department of Public Health is also opening rooms at several public buildings for people to step inside and warm up.

The warming rooms can be found at the Brookline Senior Center, Brookline Housing Authority facilities, the health department, public libraries and the Brookline Public Safety Building.
