The Board of Health recently hired Tracy Camarro as its new supervising nurse. The Danvers resident replaced Alexis Petrello, who resigned to pursue other opportunities, according to Sharon Walker Mastenbrook, the town’s director of public health.

A registered nurse, Camarro had been the public health nurse in Danvers for seven years before starting her job in Burlington. Prior to assuming that job in 2004, she worked as a school nurse in Danvers for several years. The supervising nurse in Burlington is the town’s sole public health nurse.

The duties of the job include disease investigation and reporting, providing immunizations, overseeing the town’s flu clinics, performing blood pressure screening, public health education, and helping evaluate permit applications for tanning facilities and recreational camps for children, according to Mastenbook.

“I’m very excited to be in Burlington," Camarro said. "I look forward to working with the community in the promotion of health and wellness.”
