Burlington lifts boiled water order
The town of Burlington ended the boil water order Wednesday after it was imposed earlier this week when the E. coli bacteria was discovered in the water supply.
"After satisfactory completion of testing of two consecutive rounds of samples taken throughout the Town, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection has lifted the BOIL WATER ORDER,'' the town said in a statement on its website.
The town told water users to flush their tabs for at least five minutes, with these instructions: "Flush your household and building water lines including: interior and exterior faucets, showers, water/ice dispensers, water treatment units, etc. Water heaters may need to be flushed to remove any contaminated water. Some types of water treatment devices
may need to be disinfected or replaced before being used. Check with the manufacturer for details.''
More information is available on the state's website. Further questions can be answered by the Department of Public Works at 781-270-1670.
