Residents can take part in a community event to support local families in need. People Helping People is selling tickets to a Feb. 26 wine tasting fundraiser hosted by Café Escadrille, 26 Cambridge St. The event, scheduled for 2-5 p.m. will include appetizers, raffles, and auctions, in addition to the wine tasting.

The non profit People Helping People operates the Burlington Community Food Pantry, which provides non-perishable staples as well as meat, eggs, cheese, and produce twice a month to income eligible households from its location at 10 St. Marks Road. In 2011, the pantry distributed more than 100,000 pounds of food. It also has programs that provide free Thanksgiving meals, and holiday gifts for children. In 2011, more than 180 families received Thanksgiving meals, and 150 children received gifts.

Tickets to the Feb. 26 event are $40. To purchase a ticket or for more information, contact Janet Sullivan Fitzgerald at 781-244-9519 or sullivanfh@comcast.net, or stop by Café Escadrille.
