With town administrator Robert Mercier set to retire this spring, the town’s cable access station is presenting a special three-part series recalling his nearly two decades of service to the community.

“A Retrospective: Robert Mercier, Burlington Town Administrator” is showing on Burlington Cable Access Television’s Public Channel (9 Comcast, 39 Verizon, 3 RCN). Hosted by BCAT news anchor Phil Gallagher, the series explores Mercier’s two periods as Burlington’s administrator, from 1980-86 and from 1999 to the present. It also covers the years between his two stints in Burlington, when he served as president of the North Suburban Chamber of Commerce and as Billerica’s town administrator. Mercier discusses the challenges of being a town administrator and many of the specific fiscal, policy, and development issues Burlington faced during his tenure in the town.

The station’s web site, www.BCATtv.org, lists the specific times the show is running. The series is also be available on demand at the BCAT website. Mercier is retiring at the end of May.
