Panera Bread will open its first restaurant in Cambridge Wednesday in Porter Square.

The bakery and café at 5 White St. will be the Missouri-based restaurant chain’s 40th location in greater Boston.

The restaurant’s hours will be Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

“We’re excited to open our first Panera in Cambridge in Porter Square, and to bring its wholesome baked goods, fresh fruits and vegetables, and organic menu items to the neighborhood,” said Gregg Godfrey, Joint Venture Area Director, for Panera Bread in a press release Tuesday.

“Cambridge is a natural fit for Panera, as both have put a priority on maintaining high quality food standards by taking steps like eliminating trans fats.”
