Tropical Storm Irene toppled a number of Cambridge trees, but no injuries were reported from the storm Sunday.

“We really made out pretty well,” said Cambridge Police spokesman Dan Riviello.

Cambridge’s DPW received reports of trees, branches in wires down at 180 locations Sunday during the storm, including a tree that fell onto a home on Sacramento Street, said Rebecca Fuentes, the assistant commissioner for administration. Riviello said the city did have some scattered power outages caused by the storm.

The city continues to work with contractors and utility companies to address the downed trees and wires.

But Fuentes said the flood impact from the storm was “minimal” and while the fallen trees have posed a challenge, she said she’s glad the city did not have 10 inches of rain.

Riviello said a few people did take advantage of shelters the city had opened Saturday night for the storm. The shelters were closed at 4 p.m. Sunday, he said.
