Cambridge Police will host a free series of self-defense classes for female residents beginning later this month.

The self-defense classes will be held on four consecutive Saturdays beginning Oct. 15 at the Citywide Senior Center at 806 Massachusetts Ave.

Classes will run from 9 a.m. to noon and space is limited, so anyone with interest should call 617-349-6009 for more information and to reserve a spot.

The self-defense program provides information about awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, as well as the basics of hands-on defense training.

More information is also available online at www.cambridgema.gov/CPD/CommRes/RAD.cfm.
