Police search Occupy Boston for missing Somerville teen
Police are searching for a missing 16-year-old from Somerville who is the son of a Harvard University dean and may be headed to Occupy Boston.
Elliot Madigan Layton, of Morrison Avenue, has been missing since he left his home in Somerville Tuesday riding a black bicycle and carrying a green sleeping bag and a violin.
Layton is the son of James Madigan and Daphne Layton, who is the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
Somerville Deputy Police Chief Paul Upton said Wednesday that Elliot’s parents believe he could be headed for a wooded area or could possibly be headed for the Occupy Boston encampment in Boston.
Upton said police have notified area police departments and Somerville Police walked through the Occupy Boston encampment today looking for the teen.
Upton said Elliot has disappeared three times in the past. Police said the teen is strongly drawn to wooded areas and he may appear a bit awkward or stiff and makes limited eye contact with strangers. Police believe he is wearing a jean jacket.
Anyone with information is being asked to contact Somerville Police at 617-625-1212.
